Foundation of the Delaware Chapter of the Federal Bar Association

The Foundation of the Delaware Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (“the Foundation”) supports the United States District Court for the District of Delaware’s Re-entry Court (“REC”). The REC is a voluntary federal re-entry program for Delaware residents on supervised release who present a significant risk of recidivism.  It seeks to help ex-offenders succeed in transitioning back to the community by providing support and resources to the individuals participating in the program. Founded in 2012, the REC has met with great success in reducing recidivism.  More information about the REC can be found at https://www.ded.uscourts.gov/re-entry-court.

The Foundation administers a Fund to support the REC. Money is used to assist reentry participants with emergency expenses including assistance with education, employment, housing, health care, and childcare. Decisions about allocations from the Fund are made by a Re-entry Court committee.

There is no requirement for participants to “pay back” or “replenish” the fund. However, the program does encourage participants to give back to future individuals who are in need.
